HELPING HANDS ETC.

The Smiths II. They arrived a short time ago and are assigned to Perpetual Education Fund. The Smiths are from Provo, Utah, have been married for 21 years and are on their second couples mission having served in the West Indies. Sister Smith served in Bolivia and taught school for 30 years in Provo. Elder Smith served in Paris France. Their office is in the S & I building where they help with the English classes, when they can.

Thierry Mutombo, homme extraordinaire, stake president, good friend, and stylish in his leather jacket, because it was the dry season, when the weather drops into the low seventies, very cold indeed.

Sometimes life just seems tenuous.

Some push and some pull. Without the Pousse-Pousse, goods would move much slower around the city.

Helping hands project to clean the street.

Cell phone charging station. Hundreds are all around the city.

The street was crowded the day of the Helping Hands project. Good photo of a loaded transport. Busses are only a recent addition to the city center. Here on the outskirts moto-taxis, transports, and taxis move people to their destinations. One rarely sees bicycles, and many travel on foot. A typical fare is about 50 cents.

One of the few bicycles that this member keeps in excellent condition.

This only an engine. We have seen entire automobiles on them. The locals call them "Chariot" pronounced, "shar-e-o."

President Haboko, Sue (Sister Bybee), and a friend.

To emphasize the importance of this mode of transport. Catch the shoes.

Example of handicrafts made and sold by some of the sisters. I think we may end up purchasing one of these....

I see lots of happy faces in these pictures, especially two senior missionaries!
