MISCELLANEOUS

SOME RANDOM PHOTOS

Locals call this Mangoustine (sp) The outer shell is hard and fibrous. The bottom has a raised, hard flower-shaped button that one of the sisters removed to make into earrings. The inside is white, and tastes similar to tangerine. The texture is very mushy. There is one big seed in one segment. Not my favorite, mostly because of the texture.
The fruits are sold everywhere during the short season. Women vendors carry stacks of them on platters all around the city.
The Church's Temporal Affairs offices are housed in a rented villa. Purchasing, IT, Real Estate, Accounting/Finance, Humanitarian Affairs, Translation, Distribution, Public Affairs purchasing, are all here. We would be too, but they had no more room, so one bedroom in our apartment serves as our office. We are thankful for that. We visit here often for services. Employment and Facilities Management, are in separate rented offices, not far from our apartment.
The entrance to TA offices. The property is walled and gated, with security guards at the entrance in a small security office.
All fresh food is washed in Chlorox treated water, rinsed in filtered water, and allowed to dry. Nothing goes in the refrigerator unless it has been disinfected.
Sister  Billings holding a sleeping child in Sacrament meeting.
A couple of the young men in the Camp Luka Ward.
They love to be photographed with the Mundeles.
This is not a chicken cage, but a baptism font, once a tarp is installed and it is filled with water.
Cemeteries are a common sight. Most resemble this one. Funerals are frequent sights too. A hearse sounding a siren leads a long cortege of cars to the cemetery. They are joyous celebrations, with much singing and festivity.
