LAST OF SOUTH AFRICA, JOHANNESBURG -- ZONE CONFERENCE, POINTE NOIRE.

Trolling the African craft marché for souvenirs.

Souvenir shop at Rose Park Mall Johannesburg, South Africa.

Souvenir images at mall.

Souvenir cubicle at mall in Joburg.

Masks in the mall.

Sue and Sister Murdock eyeing the necklaces.

Carver outside the mall.

Mural in the waiting area at the Joburg Tambo airport. Nice African proverb.

Italian family aboard the plane during the five hour delay. They entertained their two sets of twins with songs in English and Italian.

Great dad amusing the kids.

During the delay a woman became upset and fearful that the technical problems would cause the plane to crash and insisted upon leaving the plane along with her husband. Others took fright and began dragging their carry-on luggage out of the overhead storage and heading toward the exit. Calm prevailed and all but the woman and her reluctant husband abandoned ship. Of course we all had to wait until the luggage was off loaded from the hold and re-stowed which to another hour.

Patience prevailed and we were entertained by the children.

Sue showed the children the photos of our grandchildren.

Zone Conference in our living area with President and Sister Cook during training portion.

Snack break.

The whole zone. Elder Brockbank, Morin, Ntambwe, Johnson, VanOsdal, Baker, Lundberg, Garland, Sue, Howard, President and Sister Cook in the center.

At lunch. Lamb, roast potatoes, green salad, vegetable stir-fry, olives, whole wheat cup cakes with fresh fruit sauce and whipped cream.

Sister Cook arranging Christmas presents, socks and ties sent from members of their stake for the missionaries. They brought enough for the entire two years of their mission.

Elder Johnson loading on the whipped cream for dessert.

Ties up close.

Playing the white elephant game. Who knows how this strange tradition has spread. I wonder how the African missionaries react to this game.

We headed to the beach to get out of the apartment in the evening.

Beach scene.

More of the beach.

Palm trees, surf, and sunset on the Atlantic. Beautiful.

Three baptisms today Saturday 07 December 2013.
