APARTMENT FLORA & FAUNA

Caterpillar consuming my Passion Fruit seedling. I moved it to a nearby tree.

Chrysalis from one of the spiny caterpillars on the |Lemon Grass. We watched it  roaming around until if found a suitable spot.

Another Tree Agama, common everywhere we have gone. This one is on our roof, and is probably the same one that dashed into the apartment a few days ago.

The annoying soccer game viewing enclosure that kept us awake two hours after bed time, and most of the afternoon pounding our ears with the throbbing bass noise.

Tug of war

Figs are growing. The guards say that bats come to eat them as they ripen. We have found some strewn around the parking lot and on our roof.

This fig appeared on our roof. \probably dropped by some bird or bat.

Another Caterpillar

This was on the wall of the apartment entry.

I found this one asleep at the food of  our stairwell one morning.

Top view.

This white butterfly was one of millions that hatched a few weeks ago. I suspect  the caterpillars we are finding  descend from this cohort. They have now disappeared.

Not very spectacular, but these appeared in small numbers before the butterflies, and now are not to be found. I am trying to find specimens of Goliath Beetles. We saw children offering immense grubs for sale at the roadside on the way to Zongo Falls, and some day I will stop and buy a live one and see if I can raise it out and see what it produces.

The egret spent the day in a tree outside our apartment, not looking very healthy. Sure enough, I found it on the ground in the planter bordering the parking area, this morning at 5h30 during my morning exercise walk.

Taken from the 10th floor deck this morning. I fear that another soccer match might be in the offing tonight.

One of the several collared doves that enjoy our feeder, along with the sparrows. This is taken through our dirty picture window, from our dining room table. We enjoy watching the birds at meal times.
